GH 2/18: The show is pre-empted today for a local news story
If anyone stops by today, a plane has crashed in a building in Austin, and local news coverage will clearly continue for the next several hours.
It's startling to me because I once worked in that building. More alarming still a dear friend of mine was driving by at the time of the impact. I shudder to think if the plane had landed on the busy highway that runs next to this building.
If you haven't heard about it yet you will. Apparently a deeply troubled man purposefully flew his small plane into a building where the IRS has offices. Reports of arguments between the pilot and his wife. She and her daughter left the home in the middle of the night to stay at a hotel, and their family home was engulfed in flames by morning, just a few hours before the plane crash. Your favorite news station will be happy to read you, ad nauseum, the disturbing manifesto this man put on his website.
Miraculously, there are no fatalities reported at this time, other than, presumably the pilot.

My son lives in Austin and my girls were born in Round Rock 10 years ago. Has it really changed so much, or can I hope that this was just one wacko?

I saw something about that on the tv. I am sorry about the tragedy in your community.

I'm sorry to hear about the crash being so close. I felt that way when the WTC was hit because I used to work in one of the towers. This was a momentary flashback because at the time my brother worked at the WTC (he was okay) and now he works in Austin (he is okay.)
If it helps, they are running GH here (NJ) and it would probably annoy you -- Sonny is demanding that Olivia make Dante love him, Morgan thinks it'd be swell if Dante stops being a cop and comes to work for Jason (who he called to the hospital) Helena reveals she owns Shady Brooke and now has Elizabeth in her clutches while Lucky is trying to figure out how to save Elizabeth and Nicholas has already called Alexis to draw up papers so he can control Liz and the baby...and that's where I couldn't stand watching anymore.
